Engineering Challenges

  1. Build a popsicle stick bridge (Test how much weight it can hold)
  2. Build a paper tower (Try to make it as tall as possible)
  3. Design a paper airplane (Try to make it fly as far as possible)
  4. Create a marble run
  5. Make an extendable arm (see instructions)
Post a photo or video on the GEMS Club Facebook page!

Get creative with the challenges!

This is a popsicle stick bridge I have built in the past. It includes a section in the middle that can be raised and lowered using two syringes.

Have fun!

Here is a marble run I designed with a few jumps!

How To Make An Extendable Arm:
  1. Cut six 1-inch x 6-inch pieces of cardboard
  2. Use the extendable arm template to cut holes into the cardboard or cut three holes spaced 1.5 inches apart
  3. Use paper fasteners to connect the cardboard like shown in the picture
  4. Create claws and tape them to the end
  5. Have fun with your extendable arm!
